KINGS OF THRACE. Lysimachos, 305-281 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 29 mm, 17.08 g, 12 h), Magnesia ad Maeandrum, 297/6-282/1. Diademed head of Alexander the Great to right with horn of Ammon over his ear. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ - ΛΥΣΙΜΑΧΟΥ Athena seated left, holding Nike, crowning the king's name, in her right hand and leaning with her left arm on shield decorated with lion's head; to outer left, filleted race torch; in inner left field, monogram of ΠYP. Müller 443 var. (slightly differing monogram). Thompson 115. Beautifully toned and struck in high relief. Light roughness near the edge, otherwise, nearly extremely fine.

From an old Swiss collection, privately purchased form Leu in the 1980s (with original dealer's ticket), ex Birkler & Waddell II, 11 December 1980, 119 and from the collection of Kommerzienrat H. Otto, Hess 207, 1 December 1931, 280.

This coin was struck from the same obverse die as Leu 6, 23 October 2020, 107.
